My Creative Ego

I sort of had an artistic breakthrough today. I found a video of Cyndi Lauper performing “The World is Stone.” So I started watching it and was fairly interested in the performance, and by the time it got to the end, I was utterly shocked. I couldn’t believe it. The song, the vocal arrangements, the background visuals, the dancing, the sitting on the on a giant revolving stool; (depends on the performance) THAT’s the type of performing I would like my more intimate songs to be. It started with my performance of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.” I sang it in my sort of peter pan-esque shorts, on my knees, and emotionally that could be my best performance on youtube. Not because of the song, and definitely not because of a good vocal day, (My voice was ironically really rough and hoarse) but because I made myself into my performing character, emotionally, physically, and then I sang what I felt.

So that will be my goal in all my future performances. I will try to always get into the emotional character that I so much enjoy being. And the character is not a different person, but a glimpse into the more sensitive, creative version of myself.

I know there will be many performances where things won’t work out for me to sit on the ground, or whatever might be stifling creatively; I’ll still have to get up and sing it through the song performing like everything is working out perfectly.

So I really just wanted to talk about that today. It’s really inspired me in a lot of ways. I am happiest when I’m myself on stage. Thanks for reading, have a great day and find your more sensitive creative self. You don’t have to be a performer to have that side of you; it can work in a lot of ways.

With love, until next time, as my friend Lyn calls me,

P.S. Please watch the performance of Cyndi I added on here. Tell me what you like about it, what you don’t, how you feel, what inspires, etc
