Is Color Fading to Black & White?

As a child being home schooled most of my life; was very difficult for making friends. Usually you’d do what every kid did back then: walk up to a kid, say "hey, you wanna be my friend?" "Sure," they’d reply. Then *Walla!* you’re friends! And not just any friends, the best of friends. You may have nothing in common with the other kid, but it really didn’t matter. *Then your mom or dad takes you home and then you’ve lost a friend...*

What I’m getting at is; when you’re a child you lean heavily on imagination. Most kids just can’t deal with the blandness, and depression of reality. So what do we do? We run around with our pretend friends, color our palm trees purple and name every bug that we see ‘Bob.’

Sometimes I feel that at this age and time, as kids get older, (turn into teens) they decided that they have to fit in more, they have to be, ‘normal.’ I wanna ask you something... How many people do you know; that fit the real description of the term ‘normal?’ What is normal?

Here’s the definition: conforming to a standard; usual, typical, or expected.

Does that sound like a lot of fun? So basically, what I get out of this is: You change yourself to what everyone else is doing, which makes you all similar...

I’m just going to assume you can’t think of anyone normal. So then what? Is everyone actually playing pretend as a teenager? Are they playing the "I’m a new character game?" "I’m a person who loves to learn and joke, but because everyone else thinks learning is stupid, *haha* and would rather do drugs, that’s what I should do too?" (I have nothing against other people and what they do, I’m just making a point)

Sometimes I think this teen society is delusional... The majority of us are trying to fit in somewhere and when everyone we want to fit in is leaving bad examples, what are we to lean on? I don’t know, it’s hard-definitely hard!

I’m just making this blog to point out: "Where’s your imagination?" Are you able to be locked in a room, with no computer, television, or books, and still be entertained? I mean, I know it varies on the room, but I just wish there was more creativeness in the world. Like for instance: when I was littler (primarily in the 90s) we (my cousins/siblings/friends, or even by myself) would go outside, make some games up and play ALL day. Making up games, telling jokes and stories, analyzing bugs... Literally until it was dark and our parents said "it’s time to go home." And the interesting part was, we were perfectly content.

I guess once you get older, there’s no time for playing. There are too many movies to watch, too much gossip to hear, too many people to date, etc... That’s all good and nice, but where’s the imagination? You probably don’t know it, but if you like movies, "you crave imagination." It’s as simple as that. You would rather sit down and watch someone else live a fairy tale, or an adventure, than go outside or somewhere and find your own.

Do you see where I’m coming from? I just want to ask you one favor. In situations where you’re unhappy, or bored, or lonely, think about what I said. Think about ‘imagination.’ You don’t necessarily have to run around pretending to be a pink pony, but come on, there are resources and thoughts galore...

So God bless you, have a wonderful rest of the week, and ‘be creative.’

With love,

-Trevor
