Comedy of The Unfinished House

Would you like to know how I spent my time at 4:30 this morning?

Well I definitely wasn’t sleeping! I really wanted to, don’t get me wrong, but let’s just say there’s a certain critter that was lurking the night and making a knocking sound with its claws when it walked. And it happened to be right outside my room in our unfinished house. So it sounded like someone was lightly knocking on the wall that happened to be in the direction I slept in. *Lightly knocking with a hammer; that is* This isn’t the first time this has happened either.

A year ago I was asleep in my room, when in the middle of the night I heard this knocking sound on my floor. I thought it was my siblings knocking through the vent to get my attention. So I yelled at my sister telling her to stop, assuming it was her. *I was SO tired* Then I looked under my bed, and this little fuzzy thing ran across the room. I was kinda freaked out. I looked over and peaking its nose out from behind my shelves, was a spotted SKUNK! (Then it somehow got in our outside kitchen nearly a year later, but that’s another story)

So back to this morning… I went outside to find that annoying thing, and see how I could get it to shut up! It was behind some boards, and there really wasn’t any easy way for me to get back. So I was running around in the middle of the night, in my under wear, trying to catch the wretched thing. haha Finally I had it lured out far enough, to where I could shake this board by it and run it out. Then I chased it down the stairs, because I wanted it as far away as I possibly could. We have wild cats in our house too. So there happened to be one near the stairs when I chased the skunk. So I tried to run it towards the skunk, and I guess that must’ve been a smart cat, ‘cause it refused to run by that skunk. Haha

I finally got the skunk underneath our stairs. I was hoping I could get it all the way out of our house, so I tried to scare it and it kept doing its famous skunky hand stands to threaten me. Honestly, either that skunk was a lover, not a fighter, (*I’d say annoyer*) or it couldn’t spray, ‘cause that thing was practically doing a circus act on its hands. I thought that was a little humorous considering I had been awake for nearly an hour. I decided to leave it alone and hope it didn’t go up the stairs.

Whew… What a night! I’m still utterly exhausted.
